Junior Engineer Training Course (JETC)
Course Description |
The course is designed to upgrade and standardize the quality of Marine Engineer Officers at the operational level to ensure the safe and efficient operation of ships. Upon completion of the course participants will be able to : 1. Understand the mechanism of marine diesel engine remote control system 2. Maintain efficient operation of four-stroke diesel engine 3. Understand the proper control of boiler combustion and management of boiler water 4. Understand functionality of various marine electrical generating equipment and associated components including low and high voltage installations and switchboards 5. Know the principles of pneumatic and electrical controllers, the needed adjustments and maintenance 6. Understand the purpose and method of fuel management that includes the proper handling of poor fuel quality 7. Identify structure and components of refrigeration system and diagnose troubles using system analysis method, and of Mollier P-H Diagram. 8. Handle Bilge Water and OWS equipment. Understand the function of sewage treatment and the proper management of garbage 9. Know the effects of erosion and corrosion and the necessary application of preventive system 10. Be constantly aware of risks associated within the work environment and its necessary mitigating factors 11. Know the preparation and accommodating Port State Control and Vetting inspections 12. Know the ballast system, operation, handling problems and counter measures |
