Marine High Voltage (MHIVO) Training Course – Management Level

 

Course Description

This course covers topics on the high voltage electrical technology, application, safety, maintenance, testing and management procedures onboard ships with written/practical exercises in operating and testing high voltage equipment in compliance with Sections A-III/2 and B-III/2, and Table A-III/2 of the STCW Code.

The course uses extensive practical exercises on modern high voltage equipment and aims to familiarize management level engine officers on the High Voltage Switchboard, its functions, theories behind operation and control, and management of operation in High Voltage systems. The emphasis is on the safe working practices and procedures which should be followed before, during and after any high voltage work is undertaken. Attendees will also be able to carry out required managerial tasks for safe High Voltage isolation, switching operations, and basic troubleshooting onboard ships that utilizes high voltage systems.
