The IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation, Inc. is inviting once again all interested PJMCC members to sponsor cadets from MAAP Class 2017 under the IMMAJ-PJMCC Cadetship Training Program (CTP). The CTP is an officer-development program, which gives manning companies the opportunity to develop future merchant marine officers and engineers for their IMMAJ member-principals. Over the years, the Foundation has been committed to provide a steady supply of qualified officers and seafarers to the Japanese fleet; and to accomplish this, the Foundation believes that training and development should start early on, from the level of the cadets.

At present, there are a total of 92 Deck and 95 Engine cadets studying at the MAAP IMMAJ Campus available for distribution to PJMCC members with IMMAJ-member Principals. Class 2017 cadets will be available for international shipboard training by April 2016.

In view of the above, we would like to inform the membership about the following:

1. The Foundation is now adopting the CTP Policy, which prescribes policy and procedures for the selection, processing, pre- and post-embarkation briefing, distribution and shipboard training of IMMAJ-PJMCC cadets selected and endorsed to IMMAJ principals through the PJMCC member-manning agencies for the purpose of undergoing the shipboard training.
2. As initially implemented with Non-MAAP Cadets Batch 8, the Foundation will also allow sponsoring companies to conduct screening of MAAP cadets prior to final company acceptance. This is an improvement of our previous method of assigning cadets to sponsor companies which was done solely by raffle.
3. MAAP Class 2017 cadets are under the 3-1 Program curriculum, which means that cadets have already completed three (3) years of academic studies prior to shipboard training. At present, cadets are now on their 3^rd Year, 2^nd Semester AY 2015-2016.
4. MAAP Class 2017 cadets will no longer undergo the three (3) months TS Kapitan Felix Oca supervised shipboard training, which means that they will to complete a total of twelve (12) months shipboard training as required by the STCW Convention and Code.
5. Recommended timetable for the distribution, selection, processing and onboard training of MAAP Cadets Class 2017 is as follows:

Moreover, benefits of sponsoring cadets from the IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation include the exemption from paying the USD1,000.00/month fee for twelve (12) months under the On-Board Training Fund policy of JSU and IMMAJ. Likewise, as the CTP is an officer-development program, manning companies are assured of a ready pool of junior officer-candidates right after graduation.
