The cadets of Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) Class of 2022 were welcomed by their Japanese sponsors from the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ) last 05 July 2018 at MAAP JSU-IMMAJ Campus, Mariveles, Bataan. Capt. Koichi Akamine, Chairman of IMMAJ; Capt. Teodoro B. Quijano, Vice President of IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation, Inc.; and Mr. Wenifredo G. Sola, Project Consultant of IMMAJ-PJMCC led the welcoming ceremony.

During the Open-Forum, Capt. Teodoro B. Quijano also answered some questions from the Midshipmen and MAAP Faculty Members. In summary, the Midshipmen's concerns were about their career path, contract, benefits, skills they should possess as an IMMAJ cadet, type of ships IMMAJ operates, plans for autonomous ships, and land-based jobs IMMAJ can offer; while the Faculty Members were concerned about the welfare of IMMAJ cadets while studying at MAAP and other plans to improve the quality of the cadets’ training. Capt. Quijano graciously addressed the concerns and left strong words of encouragement for the cadets and faculty members.

The program ended with closing remarks from the honorable VADM Eduardo Ma R. Santos AFP (Ret.), President of MAAP.
