The IMMAJ-PJMCC Foundation has successfully concluded the first delivery of this year’s IMO Model Course 3.12 (Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers) last 18 March 2022. It was made possible by the government’s declaration, through the IATF, of the least restrictive alert level so far – Alert Level 1. To ensure minimum health standards are followed, number of students per class has been limited to up to 12, or 50% of maximum class intake of 24.

The aim of this course is prepare trainees on the application of International Standards concerning training, assessment, examination and certification of Masters, CE & Officers and Ratings of merchant vessels. It is expected that as future assessors, they should be able to organize, administer and conduct assessments and examinations.

A total of five (5) participants from PJMCC member manning agencies and member schools of the Philippine Association of Maritime Institutions (PAMI) have completed the training. Likewise, two (2) trainees from IMO 3.12 Batch 2020-01 joined the first batch for 2022 to complete their training as the latter part of their class was suspended due to the imposition of quarantine restrictions (lockdown) caused by the COVID-10 pandemic.

The 10-day course from 7th to 18th March 2022 was facilitated by one of the experienced and highly regarded Industry Instructors: Ms. Ana Maria Jasmin M. Sampedro.

A simple graduation ceremony culminated the two weeks training wherein Capt. Gerry T. Chan, IMMAJ-PJMCC Training Coordinator – Deck, gave congratulatory remarks. Certificates of Attendance were likewise awarded to all the graduates.
