Thirty nine (39) IMMAJ-PJMCC sponsored cadets from the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) were sent to Japan last 31 March 2010 to join the Seiun Maru Training Program. The batch consists of twenty (20) deck and nineteen (19) engine cadets from Class 2012. Likewise, the said cadets compose the fourth batch of MAAP students sent onboard the training ship Seiun Maru to undergo two (2) months supervised shipboard training.

The Seiun Maru Training Program is a project initiated by the International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMAJ) and is a joint project of Japan's National Institute for Sea Training (NIST) and Philippines' MAAP to promote cooperation for sea training between the two (2) countries.

A send-off ceremony was also held last 31 March 2010 at the JSU-AMOSUP Mariners' Home. The event was attended by IMMAJ and PJMCC heads led by Capt. Ted Quijano and Mr. Kumio Tsuruta, sponsor member company representatives and MAAP officials.
