Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP)

The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) is a non-stock, non-profit maritime higher educational institution which is owned, developed and operated by the Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines. AMOSUP is founded by the late Capt. Gregorio S Oca. The new AMOSUP President, Dr. Conrado F. oca, heads the Academy's board of governors. The board is comprised of representatives from the private sector, the International Transport Workers Federation, the All Japan Seamen's Union, the International Mariners Management Association of Japan, the Norweigan Seafarers' Union, the International Maritime Employers' Committee, the Danish Shipowners' Association, the Norweigan Shipowners' Association, and the Japanese Shipowners' Association.

 

MAAP Simulator Center (MSC)

The MSC is a department of MAAP that is in charge of the operation of the different state-of-the art and most advanced simulators of the Academy. It has a Full Mission Bridge Simulator that can be integrated with a Full Mission Engine Room Simulator (Kongsberg). It also consists of eight (8) desktop bridge simulators and three (3) secondary bridges. In addition, MSC has a Chemical and Product Tanker Simulator (CPTS) constructed by Kitanihon Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. integrated with a Hybrid Computer Simulator (HCS) constructed by M.O. Marine Consulting Co., Ltd. The Liquefied Natural Gas Membrane Type Cargo Handling Simulator (LNG-M) by Kongsberg is the newest addition to the simulator family. At the new MAAP campus, the most advanced Full Mission Bridge Simulator (360°) with motion platform system can be integrated with a Full Mission Engine Room Simulator (Kongsberg). Additional simulator is a Japanese Compact Ship Handling Simulator constructed by Japan Marine Science used for simulation of vessels in Japanese ports with Japanese type bridge instrumentation. The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific is an accredited assessment center of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for the licensure practical examination using the said Bridge and Engine Simulators.
